Free Consultation: This is a time for us to meet and discover if we are a good fit. I will help answer your questions and help you fully understand what you can expect from my services.
Two Prenatal Visits: A trusting relationship is the foundation of doula care. Our prenatal visits are focused on getting to know each other, having open discussions, and building our support team. At our first visit we will explore your birth preferences and begin to create your birth plan. We will discuss any fears or concerns that you may have, as well as your expectations of my role as your doula. At our second visit we will finalize your birth plan and go over logistics. We will also practice various relaxation techniques and comfort measures that can be used for each stage of labor.
Unlimited Phone, Email & Text Support: It’s so simple but so important to know that a compassionate and knowledgable person is just a phone call away. From the time you sign your contract until your baby goes off to college, I will be available to support you through it all.
24/7 On-Call Service: On call support from 38 weeks until the birth of your baby. This means that I don’t leave town, my cell phone is on me at all times, and I answer my phone 24 hours a day. If there is reason to believe that you might go into labor before 38 weeks we can easily make arrangements for on-call services to begin earlier.
At Home Labor Support: Many women wish to labor in the comfort of their own home for as long as possible. My goal as your doula in the home environment is to help normalize the labor process and keep things calm and peaceful. I will provide labor progression and comfort measures, and help you determine when it’s time to transition to the hospital.
Continuous Labor & Birth Support At The Hospital: I will remain by your side at the hospital throughout your labor and delivery. Based on your preferences, I will assist in a variety of ways including informational support, physical comfort measures, mental and emotional encouragement, labor progression techniques, effective positioning. I will also provide emotional support and breaks for your birth partner, as well as help you and your partner advocate for your labor and birth preferences.
Immediate Postpartum Support: I will remain at the hospital for 1-2 hours after the birth to assist with breastfeeding, encourage family bonding, and rejoice in the beauty of your new baby.
Postpartum Home Visit: This visit is generally 1-2 weeks postpartum, but the timing is completely up to you. The purpose is to offer transitional support focused on integrating the birth experience, Research shows that having the opportunity to reflect on and process what happened during labor and delivery has an enormous impact on a mother's sense of well-being, how well she bonds wither baby, and how she feels about facing future births. I will also assist with breastfeeding and newborn care questions and anything else that's on your mind.
